I published my first Amazon KDP children's book in about two hours. No writing experience. No design background. No ads. It started making organic sales within its first month.
The books I published before that? Zero sales. A coloring book that disappeared into thousands of identical results. Shorts that got no views. Affiliate campaigns that drained my account and got me banned.
The difference wasn't effort. I put more hours into those failed attempts than I did into the one that worked.
The difference was niche research. Specifically, finding a topic where real buyers were already searching on Amazon but almost no competing books existed yet. Once I understood that one thing, two hours of work produced actual royalties.
I'm an IT infrastructure engineer with a corporate 9-to-7. My English is functional, not fluent. I don't post on social media. I don't run ads. And Amazon's traffic found my book anyway, because I found the gap first.
If you've tried KDP before and got nothing, or you've been meaning to start and keep putting it off because you're not sure which niche to pick, this guide is the process I wish I'd had before I wasted months on the wrong books.
Your first sale doesn't require fluent English, a big following, or a single dollar in advertising. It requires finding the right niche before you build.
